Michael Franklin

Michael Franklin made a short journey from his hometown of Mendham, NJ to Princeton for college, but his journey as a runner has been extraordinary.  After two relatively undistinguished season for the Tigers, Mike made a major breakthrough his junior year when he ran 14:06 for 5,000 meters.  But even that impressive performance did not foretell his amazing senior year, when he won 3 Heps Championships (Indoor 5,000, Outdoor 5,000 and 10,000), and earned All-American status by finishing 5th in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Championships, the best finish ever in that event for a Princeton runner.  Mike joined GRC after graduation in 2013, and he intends to continue his progress on the track, while also racing at longer distances on the roads.  In March of 2014, Mike set the club record at 3000m with an 8:17.01. Mike works for the U.S. Department of Defense in Fort Meade, MD.
