Cleo Whiting

Cleo began running track and field when she realized her hand-eye coordination wasn’t good enough for the middle-school volleyball or basketball teams. Aided by having her twin sister to train with every day, Cleo kept logging miles on the rural roads of Delta, Colorado, and still loved the sport enough to attend the University of Pennsylvania as a walk-on athlete. She finished her career at Penn as the 2nd-scorer for the 2016 national-qualifying women’s cross-country team and as the school record-holder of the outdoor 10,000m.  Between graduating in 2017 and entering medical school at George Washington School of Medicine in 2020, Cleo lived in Boulder, Colorado, and raced for Boulder Track Club under the coaching of Julianne Benson. There she improved her outdoor 5,000m performance and was a 2x runner-up in the historical Bolder Boulder 10k citizen’s race (women’s division). Cleo’s future running goals include improving upon her best racing performances while striking a healthy life-balance as a medical student.
