Kayla started running in middle school because she wanted to be like her older sister, who she believed was a cross country superstar. Kayla fell in love with the running community and the physical/mental challenge of running itself. Her dream of being a Division I athlete came true at the University of Michigan, where she ran for five years. Kayla’s strength was long distance, and she raced the 10,000 for a squad that won the Big 10 Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Kayla works in a research lab at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and plan to attend medical school.
