Dustin started running seriously when, during his senior year of high school, he realized he was better suited for endurance sports than his stronger and more athletic peers on his competitive ski team. Dustin’s passion for running flourished when he moved to Flagstaff to attend NAU and was surrounded by the running community there. Dustin managed to catch the attention of the NAU coaches when he beat some NAU guys at the 2019 George Kyte Classic XC meet. COVID and a string of injuries kept Dustin from ever getting the shot to run for NAU and left him feeling discouraged with track and cross country. Dustin found a love for running again on the trails, and in 2022 he completed a Rim to Rim to Rim run in the Grand Canyon and the Speedgoat 50k in Utah. Dustin moved to the DC area for a post-baccalaureate fellowship at the NIH where he studies brain tumors.
