Natalie Patterson-Daniels

Natalie’s running career started in high school where she ran a 5k personal best of 24:31 as a senior. As a college freshman, she began running with her state champion roommate who helped her not only to improve substantially, but to love running and competition. Natalie then began running with Calvin College’s Cross Country and Track teams where she recognized the importance of running and community, and running as a demonstration of faith rather than personal gain. She rekindled her love of racing as a graduate student at Virginia Tech, finishing her time in Blacksburg by  winning the Blue Ridge Half Marathon (America’s Hardest Road 13.1), which Natalie feels was harder than her graduate program. She has been focusing primarily on longer distances (half/full marathons) since graduating from Calvin, but looks forward to working with GRC to drive down her 5k and 10k PRs in the near future. When not running, Natalie works at LOCUS at Virginia Community Capital managing social impact investments for foundations, national, and local CDFIs, and socially conscious small business loan funds.
